Bug Description

...Freshly upgraded to 21.10 using the same OS that I used to open most of my previous video glitches ever... EDIT:(Because in my mind I have opened several exotic bugs video related (quite possibly originating from my monitor setup?))

Using 2x monitor in portrait mode, the preview panel/widget(?) located at the bottom right side shows 2 things wrong:

1. The "Workspace 1" preview is very elongated when compared to not only all of it's previous incarnations (from 14.04 to 21.10) but also has an inconsistent size when compared to it's neighbouring "Workspace 2". Expectation: both 1 and 2 should be sized identically.
2. When hovering the mouse cursor on "Workspace 2" only it's left portion will highlight.
Expectation: both monitors of "2" should highlight

See enclosed picture.

Please run `apport-collect 1947420` and add details about your system - which window manager do you use (Marco, Compton, Compiz), which graphics card, which screen resolutions do you have.

Before UG each workspace was about 12mm wide, after UG they are about 6mm wide.
They appear to have changed, comparatively, from landscape to portrait view.

Furthermore, space 1 and space 2 do not behave the same in terms of size and UI

Adding myself to this as this also affects me. At first I thought it was just the way things were from now on, as an experiment in how the workplace switcher worked. I did not realize it was a bug until I saw a post about it in the Ubuntu-Mate forums.

I wonder how many others just shrugged and assumed this was working as intended?

Still happens on Jammy. Should be fixed before final release.

This bug was fixed in the package libwnck3 - 40.1-1

libwnck3 (40.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release (LP: #1947420)
  * Build-Depend on dh-sequence-gir & dh-sequence-gnome

Martin, this *IS* bug in mate-panel, next release libwnck release will have same problem...

Revert in libwnck was added only because libwnck was released as 40.0 while it really should have been 41.alpha!
