Title: package mysql-server-8.0 8.0.22-
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.
In the logs I can see this error:
mysqld is running as pid 23042
Error: Unable to shut down server with process id 23042
Which means the post installation script was not able to stop this mysqld process. Checking the mysql error logs I cannot find any reference to the pid 23042, did you start an instance of mysql in a way different than using the debian package coming from the Ubuntu archive?
Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as 'Incomplete'.
However, if you believe that this is really a bug in Ubuntu, then we would
be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem
with steps to reproduce, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu
rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug
status back to "New".
