Bug Description

[ Impact ]

After one of the recent updates, clicking the Show Applications button in the very corner of the screen and at its bottom edge doesn't work. This bug applies in the cases of left and right positions of the dock and there is no this bug in the case of bottom position.
This issue is very annoying since the mouse pointer runs at the very corner of the screen in vast majority of cases as you intent to press the Show Apps button.

[ Test case ]

- Ensure the dock is positioned on the left side of the screen
- Move the cursor at the bottom left corner
- Clicking should open the app grid

[ Regression potential ]

Dash has missing padding

I don't think this is a bug since the button doesn't reach the corner of the screen. But rather than relying on what I say you should report the issue to the upstream developers at:

  https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues

and then tell us the new bug ID.

Daniel, thank you for paying attention to the ticket and making comment.
Though, my apology but I believe that this is indeed a bug.
First, because it breaks the UX since, as I have tried to explain in the description, in vast majority of cases the mouse pointer runs at the very corner of the screen as you move it towards the ShowApps button. It's terribly annoying to move it somewhat backwards each time to hit the button. Second, this is a bug because it breaks the behavior that was here before. This issue appeared very recently - several weeks ago.

If you're moving so fast that the mouse pointer misses the button then you might benefit from using the keyboard instead. Just tap Super and start typing the app name you want.

But it should also be possible to restore support for clicking in the corner of the screen. Just keep an eye on what the upstream developers say: https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/1167

Thanks, indeed it's an usability issue. It's late now to have the fix in the release but we plan to do a SRU with pending fixes soon and the change should be included
Marco, I'm assigning to you since you said you were planning to do that SRU
