lubuntu fails to install on real hardware uefi

To reproduce install on real hardware install booting from a usb I created with dd. I tried the autoresize like http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/390/builds/176757/testcases/1301/results the partition is my partitioning option wait what seems like an eternity no progress on the install screen wait for the screensaver to show up. The installer pops up and error message saying.

There was no output from the command.

I expected an install to finish of lubuntu 18.10 instead I did not get an installation and took a really long time and never showed and progresss beyond partitioning this large hard drive in the GUI.
