Hi Amit,
Thank you for testing and reporting. We have some work to do with this bug.
 * 1st, I need to check if the problem actually comes from synaptics driver, so please Alt+F2 and enter 'apport-collect 833840'(Of course without quotes :D).
 * 2nd: Did the command '$ gconftool-2 --set --type boolean /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled true' enable it?
would you please check if that command really did set the value, using 'gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled' what does it reply? 'true' OR 'false' ? if 'false' please use the first command to set it again.
 * 3rd: Please enter this command into your terminal: 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices > ~/Desktop/devices.txt' and attach the 'devices.txt' file from your Desktop to this E-Mail/Report.
 * 4th: What does 'synclient -l' reply?

Thanks and happy Debugging :)

Hello Amit,
Thanks for feedback and sorry for late response, somehow I didn't see the mail.
I checked, kernel, udev and synaptics driver but all clear.

Moving to 'gnome-settings-daemon'

Best Wishes

Another observation, it works for few seconds soon after it wakes up (from suspend) and then stops working.

this also look like a dupe from bug #868400 , this is the classic case of the gnome session is disabling the touchpad on startup (on gdm you dont have gnome, so it works)
you can also try to create a new user and login... if dupe the mouse will work until you disable the touchpad for the first time
(watch out also for the "disable touchpad while typing")
