In Xubuntu 11.04, xubuntu-
Concerning the choice of Java type, I think Sun Java would be the most appropriate. It works in more circumstances than openJDK. Apart from that: Sun Java is restricted, and openJDK is not. This is after all the *restricted* extras....
WORKAROUND:
Please add Partner source to your software lists, then install java from that repository.

Thank you for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, with the acquistion of Sun by Oracle, we can not make Sun Java the default. However, it is possible that OpenJDK could be used.
