Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

On trying to drag-drop a shortcut to the BasKet Note Pads application from the application search menu, the operation appears to be recognised by Unity (i.e. when the icon is dragged over the the launcher, the icons move aside to accommodate the new shortcut). However, when the mouse is released to drop the shortcut onto the launcher, it does not appear and the existing icons move back to their original locations. On examination of the launcher, no shortcut to BasKet Note Pads has been added anywhere. On further investigation, attempting to add shortcuts for any other KDE application installed on my system results in the same vanishing problem while other GTK/desktop independent application shortcuts can be made.

I can confirm this. Try installing Konsole or any KDE app and dragging it from the Dash to the Launcher does not work.

This bug is not a duplicate, as the "Keep in launcher" option is available to me for KDE applications. In this case, it is the drag-drop mechanism that is not working

the keep in launcher is available but will not work, i.e those will not be listed after a restart, the issue still seem to have the same cause which is a matching error

I can reproduce the original issue both with a self-compiled Battle for Wesnoth 1.8.6 and Eclipse Helios. Keep in Launcher does work, though.

For Wesnoth, I used the .desktop file shipping with the tarball[1], for Eclipse, I created a .desktop file with alacarte[2].

Dragging Eclipse to the launcher "looked wrong"; the icon was replaced by a question mark as soon a I started dragging (maybe a problem with the de_DE icon?).
