Bug Description

Daily build ISO version:
2023-03-08

I'm following this testcase: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/testcases/1758/info
I'm running the installation in Virutalbox

[ Expectation ]
Step 4.: "The proposed keyboard corresponds with your keyboard"

[ What is actually happening? ]
The proposed keyboard is "English", but I'm using a German keyboard.

I see that this bug was reported against Ubiquity, but the test case is from the Canary tests. I assume you're doing New Desktop Installer testing?

What language did you select on the first screen?

Yes, I'm doing new Desktop Installer testing.

I selected "English".

(Is the keyboard proposal based on the chosen language? I thought the installer is pulling some info from the hardware to determine the language.)

The initial keyboard proposal is based on the language selected, so if you select English as the language then this should suggest an English layout by default, and selecting Deutsch suggests the Deutsch default layout.

So I think this is working as expected, but maybe the test case needs a text update to clarify the above.

Marking 'invalid' as this is the expected behavior, the initial keyboard suggestion is derived from the chosen language.
