Bug Description

Calendar UI is shown in English although I have chosen Finnish as a language.

.mo seems to be in place:

abc@Standard-PC-i440FX-PIIX-1996:/usr/share/locale-langpack/fi/LC_MESSAGES$ ls -al |grep calendar
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8385 maali 22 19:05 gnome-calendar.mo

and it belongs to package language-pack-gnome-fi-base

abc@Standard-PC-i440FX-PIIX-1996:/usr/share/locale-langpack/fi/LC_MESSAGES$ apt-file search gnome-calendar.mo |grep fi
language-pack-gnome-fi-base: /usr/share/locale-langpack/fi/LC_MESSAGES/gnome-calendar.mo

Tested and verified also when using German as a language, probably affects other languages as well.

Is this something we can forward to upstream?

<GunnarHj> dholbach: Don't think upstream would need my hackish patch at bug #1563553. I suspect that there is a more 'correct' way to define ENABLE_NLS, e.g. in debian/rules, but I don't know how. Hence my patch to simply make it work in 16.04.
<dholbach> GunnarHj, ok... I wasn't sure if the upstream project had the same issue with translations
<GunnarHj> dholbach: I'm not *100%* sure either. But I doubt it.
<dholbach> ok

This bug was fixed in the package gnome-calendar - 3.19.92-0ubuntu3

---------------
gnome-calendar (3.19.92-0ubuntu3) xenial; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/enable-translations.patch:
    - Enable translation support (LP: #1563553).
A similar fix has been landed in upstream master, so with the
next upstream release, this patch can be dropped.
