The attachment "patch taken from latest version on github from author of this program (if I not mistaken), solves problem for me" seems to be a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the attachment isn't a patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are member of the ~ubuntu-sponsors, unsubscribe the team.

Hello! First of all, thank you for reporting the issue and providing a patch, we greatly appreciate such useful contributions.

The patch you have attached is not a debdiff which is basically required before we can sponsor an upload, so I went ahead to create everything needed for a new package. I checked the patch itself and found various additional changes besides the ones that can be found in the original github commit from the author. So I fetched the main patch from the trunk branch, prepared a vivid package and uploaded it to my testing PPA for a test-build. Even though you have reported the issue for 14.10, we first need to get it fixed in the main development release (15.04) and then backport it back to utopic.

httptunnel version 3.3+dfsg-3ubuntu1~test1 is currently building in ppa:sil2100/testing . Once it is done, could you check if it forks as intended? Please remember that the package that's building is a vivid package, I can provide an utopic package for you for convenience as well.

After testing is done, we might need to consider getting this patch to Debian first instead. But let's see how things go. Please comment if everything works fine with the new package.
