I know it is too late, but #1295963 is a sort of RC bug.

Hi I am one of the Debian developers for gambas3
We have a 3.5.2-2 that fixes these bugs, it's waiting for approval by the FTP maintainers before it hits sid.

As mentioned in bug #1295963, this would need a FFe since the current major version in Ubuntu is 3.1.1. Is there something that could be patched on top of the current 3.1.1-2.2ubuntu4 instead?

No, 3.1.1 is quite ancient, about 2 years, there have been a number on
non-backwards-compatible changes including to the interpreter
bytecode: it can't run most GAMBAS programs in the wild.

Honestly, if you won't upgrade for trusty IMHO better to leave it out
and have users who need gambas use a PPA, (which is what we constantly
have to tell people to do on the gambas mailinglists anyway after they
discover 3.1.1 won't run their program)

I took the liberty to update debian/changelog entry to the following:

 gambas3 (3.5.2-2ubuntu1) utopic; urgency=low
 .
   * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #1295963). Remaining changes:
     - Drop libsqlite0-dev dependency.
     - Drop gambas3-gb-db-sqlite2.
   * debian/patches/gles_GL_LIGHTING_hack: dropped, merged upstream.

sorry Daniel, is it normal to see the package in the "unapproved" queue?
