Bug Description

Every once in a while the keyboard goes missing and clicking on text fields doesn't help it getting back.

I couldn't find a pattern yet, but discussing the problem on the ubuntu-phone mailing list seems to confirm the problem, and sometimes moving away onto another application or onto the dash seems to help. I have been locked out until a full reboot at least once, though.

Omer Akram reports the following pattern, which did not work for me, so it's unclear whether it's the same issue:

1. open terminal app
2. click inside the app for the OSK to appear
3. click on the 'search' item in the top left corner

What happens:
The OSK hides and you cannot get it back even if you tap inside the context area. As soon as you swipe from the left to right to the dash the OSK appears infront of Unity8

What should happen:
Once the app lose focus and the OSK hides we should be able to bring it back just by taping in the context.

I see this quite often. I think it is related to a text field being open and swiping the keyboard away (or doing something to make it go away, like rotating), then clicking in the text field. The keyboard should pop back up but it doesn't.

Reproducer:
 1. click 'SEARCH' in the application scope and see the text field pop up
 2. swipe the keyboard down and away so it isn't seen
 3. tap in the search text field

At this point the keyboard should pop up, but it doesn't.

The following is another repeatable pattern for me:
 1. install Tasks from the app store
 2. create a project (eg, 'test')
 3. at the bottom, tap in 'Add new task'
 4. without anything, swipe the keyboard down so it isn't displayed
 5. tap in 'Add new task'

At this point the keyboard should pop up, but it doesn't.

I can confirm this behaviour on Nexus 4
