Please remove ichthux from Ubuntu Archive

Waiting for grace period from upstream and CrossWire community before requesting removal.

There is no upstream activity, the meta-packages are old and buggy, they
are un-installable in the Ubuntu Archive.

How long is this grace period? For a package that is in official repositories i suggest we wait until we have a documented answer from the maintainer on the status. Either there is works underway to update package or there is not in which the owner will be notified that removal is imminent.

I am upstream developer of Xiphos and I package and maintain all the Sword related packages in Debian and Ubuntu.

I have contacted:

* Ichthux IRC channel
* ichthux-devel mailing list
* sword-devel mailing list

There were no updates to ichthux since before Lucid LTS release which is more than two years ago.

There is no activity on the ichthux-devel mailing list.

The package sets and settings are out of date and non-supportable. Many dependencies have been or are being removed from the Ubuntu archive.

I would not touch this at all it was at least working, but it's been unmaintained to the point of having a negative effect on the archive.

After speaking with some ichthux personnel its my understanding that there will not be resistance to the project being removed, though sad to see it go.

Ubuntu Archive Admins, please remove ichthux-* packages.

Agreed - I've been dealing with the odd necessary update to ichthux-* from time to time as part of general archive maintenance, and sadly it's quite clear that its regular maintainers have lost interest for quite some time now.
